Start and end days:

  • Arrival time Monday June 1, 4:00-6:00pm. Welcome and orientation at 7:30pm.
  • On Friday June 5th the closing session ends at noon (check-out by 1pm).

Below is a high level overview of the schedule. A number of logistical details are being worked out at the moment with Omega, which may slightly impact the times listed below. A form for proposing participant-led sessions on the afternoons of Tuesday and Thursday will be sent out mid-April.


Program Activities




Full group session on the common theme for the day:

  • Tuesday June 2 – Growing as teachers in our teaching: Traditional Buddhist approaches meeting innovations for teaching and learning and students in the 21st century.
  • Wednesday June 3 – Realizing Diversity: Understanding and Undoing Racism & other Oppressions
    • Culture and the nuances of teacher power, authority, and privilege. How teachers can use their position to create pathways for all people to access the dharma.
    • Supporting teachers to understand and undo the root dynamics of racism and other oppressions.
  • Thursday June 4 – Responding to world needs: Environmental concerns, the secular mindfulness movement, ethics and social engagement, the global financial crisis, changing demographics and the future of Buddhism.


Afternoon simultaneous sessions:

  • Tuesday and Thursday: Participant-led sessions on the day’s theme and other topics of interest (both prepared workshops and ‘open space’ spontaneous offerings)
  • Wednesday: Continuing workshops on the the day’s theme


Home groups: Small groups that will stay the same throughout the conference to check-in and reflect.
